Prairie Grove Primary Elementary School Guidance Program
I graduated from John Brown University in 1971.
I taught for three
years in Northwest Arkansas.
I received a Masters in Counseling
Education in 1989
from the University of Arkansas.
For the past 19 years I have been the school counselor
in
the Primary Elementary Building.
I am the mother of three adult chilren and their spouses are: Tim (32) and Cindy (32), Rebeckah (29) and Eric (32), Scott (27) and Amanda (27).
Two
precious granddaughters,
Cassandra and Lexi.
and one wonderful grandson,
Canaan
As a school counselor my
most important job
is to counsel the students individually and in
small groups.
There are also opportunities to teach the guidance curriculum,
consult
with parents regarding any
concerns about
their children,
consult with teachers and administrators
regarding student’s need,
interpret test
results to students, teachers and parents,
and coordinate with school
and community personnel
to bring
together resources for students.

There are many ways that
the students can see the counselor
Fill

“Let’s Talk” slip.

Use puppets to help them to talk
Board games that teach social skills
